Development Cooperation in Guinea Bissau
Problem
Guinea Bissau does not have shelters, 60% of women are illiterate, suffered from oblation and do not have access to credits.
Solution
Promoting the survivors’ empowerment, so they can act as agents of change, by creating the Asociación Mujeres Supervivientes (Women Survivors Association) in Guinea Bissau to build the first shelter and empowerment centre, with comprehensive training and access to microcredits for abused women.
Through the launching of the resource, local government involvement is achieved, leading to its replication and generating a systemic change.
Impact:
- Launch of the First Shelter and Empowerment centre for abused women in Guinea Bissau
- +1,000 women access to microcredits
- +100 women learnt to read, write and maths
- +40 women involved in the development of the resource
- The Governor and the Ministry of Family and Woman support the project to raise awareness among public sector workers.
